Blog Topics: A Call To Arms!

Hello Watchers!

The last couple of day I have been struggling for Blog topics and was wondering if you good folks might be able to help? I'm asking for your questions or areas of interest regarding myself or anything that I may be able to shed a little light on. Anything that you may be wondering etc. If you would leave your questions as a reply to this topic I will try my best to answer them in post form or if I need any more clarification i will let you know by responding to your post. I'm just kind of curious to know what you are interested in. I think this will help me open up on topics that I may be holding back on subconsciously. Feel free to be personal if you like and I'll do my best to answer as candidly as possible.

This ought to be interesting... :)
*********************************

Also, to anyone who has written an email within the last week and hasn't received a response, I promise I'm working on it. I'm a little be hind (well..I have a big behind but...you get my drift ;) )
Your emails are very improtant to me and I will get back to you all as soon as possible!

Thanks everyone! I can't begin to express how grateful I am to all of you for your continuous support and inspiration!

Hey Sean, I'd like to offer a suggestion, instead of a question. If you're stuck for blog topics, if you're not sure what to write about, perhaps try thinking about what you want from your blog, instead of trying to figure out what your readers want. I'm sure you have a defined idea of why you're writing this blog, but it's not really a simple process or set of interactions, so there are bound to be some reasons why you're blogging, which you haven't explored yet. Personally, I have found that taking a little time on a regular basis to think about this has helped me get more out of blogging. Just don't forget that when it comes right down to it, you're doing it for yourself. I hope this will be a good experience for you, just as much as I hope you will succeed with your health goals. :)

Mandy: You make a valid point and I appreciate your suggestion. I do generally spend time durring the day working out the evening's topic and it works pretty well. As far as blogging for myself, I am but because of the nature of my subject matter I receive several emails with really personal stories that also express interest in my more candid posts. It's because of these inquiries I decided to pose this question. I feel that it will give me more practise at being candid as well as give me a bit more direction. I'm really not used to blogging but because I plan to do this at least as long as it takes me to lose the weight and since the blog is topic specific limiting my possible post subjects I need a little help mining the subject matter with regard to my own perosnal experience. So, I figured, why not at least find out what people may be interested in reading about. That added to my own sense of direction can only make the blog that much better.

Did that make any sense? I can't tell ;)

Right now I'm concerned that your calorie intake might be too drastic of a drop! In the meal/workout section, I'd like to hear more about your conversations with your trainer, how he thinks it's going, what congrats or chiding you get, etc. Also, If you can include some comments in these posts on how your are feeling physically (like when you said it was too hot to do much of anything, or what was sore/tired). I note these things in my workout log and it helps a lot!
I love the personal posts, but logging your weight-loss strategy is also very important to the process. And if you are not taking in as many calories as your trainer recommends, I don't think it's healthy to be congratulated by strangers for something that can be very dangerous! Since we're not all professional trainers, let us know what the pro says about your progress so we don't encourage activity that we may not realize is bad. And part of getting your daily allotment is ensuring that you have the energy needed to exercise. That being said, keep up the good work! :)

anonymous: great points and you are hitting some serious concerns right on the head...I'll probably post about this tonight. This is what i'm talking about. The questions don't have to be deeply personal although they can be. If there are questions, like this, aboutthe process that helps me too because i may not be being mindful of the aspects of this journey that people are most interested in.
Thanks! Great post!

I too would like to see more about what your trainer is thinking, the sort of encouragement you get, the thoughts behind why you are doing what you're doing, etc.

In general, "Why?" is the first question I always ask in situations like this anyway. It's generally the most interesting question.

Hi Sean,

I'm with Mandy about what YOU want from your blog.
Candy has a good post over on her blog about blogging.
Is it more comments and connecting that you would like to see?
How about "linking" some of us?
I have a link to your site on my blog. It makes it easier for me to pop over and "see" you.
You are welcome to link my site, Sean.
You are an inspiriation!

I agree with everyone else. I think you should post what you want from your blog. Your feelings, place to write your food intake and/or exercises. Just write what you want and don't worry about trying to entertain others. This is your blog, your journal, make it what you want it to be. Not anyone else.

I really like this idea and you've inspired me to make another link to and sort of riff on this idea. I am going to do some busking and my idea for busking is an "ADVICE" service on the street. So, you've given me an opening to post something and to try and get more people to your blog.

also, Healing Room notes that I made a recent post bout a great idea...on this blog

http://ateapie.blogspot.com/

called 20 Comments Wednesday. he is suggesting a kind of project on Wednesdays to post 20 comments and links to where you posted them...an dthen he will link them and we'll see if it helps morale traffic and the blogging experience in general.

You doing a great job in my view and really opening up ideas and sharing.

keep up the good work. I also like the suggestions people have given you so far here.

cheers,
Candy

You might enjoy looking at www.skinnydaily.com and browsing the "journaling" section for ideas of topics to explore. The journaling ideas tend toward the more emotional/philisophical--a part of the weight loss journey that is perhaps neglected in most media. Could be interesting.

I love everyone's ideas. I also loved your post about what you are looking forward to when you get closer to your goal. That goes back to "why," I guess. Besides the whys of you making the change, it would be interesting to hear the whys of getting to this point--if you want to explore that. This is your blog--get as personal or as distant as you want. We're all just along for the ride.

I'm finding for myself that the more blogs I read, the more ideas I get for my own, so without taking time away from your training, etc., you might want to take the time to surf a bit occasionally to get your creative juices flowing.

You're doing great! Even your short posts are enjoyable to read. As others have already said, thank you for your candidness.

What about your daily life? What do you read? Do you like movies? Do you date or have a girlfriend? What about work? Hobbies? Music? Did you dream last night, what's your subconscious saying? Taken any trips lately? Blogs for me are voyeurism with permission... Tell us who you are besides a guy who's losing the weight. (Which is awesome btw, good job!!!) I'm gonna keep reading, you're an inspiration. ~Peli

I just heard about this site yesterday, so I'm playing catch-up by reading all of your blogs/comments.

I'm amazed by how much you have inspired me. I found myself nodding my head in agreement to so many of the issues that you have experienced.

If you are anything like me, then food used to be how you rewarded yourself. How about if you find a way to reward yourself for smaller goals? For myself I'm saying that after my first 25 pounds I'll treat myself to a facial. It gives me something to look forward to and focus on. It can be pretty overwhelming to think of the total amount of weight to lose, but setting smaller goals within the big one makes me feel like it's in reach. Perhaps your reward could be music related?

Forgive me if I've missed a comment that already discussed this, but do you like seafood? I know that for me the more variety of foods that I can choose from the better.

It fed her every emotion, prodding her anger and settling an icy lacing on despair. See to your people, take a bath, hold Irin —a wistful pause there— then we should talk. His hands at her waist steadied her as he obediently scooted forward in the chair. They stayed on their knees, slapping each others arms aside as they struggled for purchase. Someone was there to help her. Her accustomed method of casting, she would likely have caused a worse cavein. Gala grinned back at Eyrhaen. She looked to Eyrhaen as Hyle sat up, guarded hope in her eyes. They had helped to raise her. Eyrhaen bobbed her head, loose hair falling forward over her shoulders. They wanted her to bleed? He waited until her brain caught up, and she blinked dumbly up at him. Shed convinced herself it was over. He wasnt talking to her. When he slapped her again, she complied, twisting over. He held her hips, and they stayed still, simply enjoying the connection. Even from a distance, the man was striking. Sadness washed over his face, although a small smile remained. We arent exactly a monogamous society. She freed her other hand so she could wrap both arms securely around his neck.

Four downward sloping lines above either hip, then a thicker arch just over his navel. She simply occupied a part of his brain, and now Radin was there as well. She shook her head. She held her breath when Arkir dived underneath Lanthans arm, caught him in a hold. She knew that, on some level.
